47 Squadron (Nil Nomen Roboris Omen). Mosquito aircraft HR 574 was shot down while attacking a petrol dump at Toungoo, Burma. The navigator, not Canadian, stated that one engine caught fire and Squadron Leader Scott had been hit by an explosive bullet completely shattering his left arm. The navigator was ordered to bail out and saw Scott abandon the aircraft at about 500 feet. Squadron Leader Scott was killed when his parachute did not have time to fully open.
