40 Squadron (Hostem A Coelo Expellere). Wellington aircraft X 9974 crashed on the Satellite Aerodrome at Hampstead Morris, England. Sergeants H.L. Steadman, D.Y. Crosby, A.N. Irving, and Pilot Officer A. Lodge (RAF) were also killed. Addendum: Took-off on a Ferry trip to Malta via Gibraltar and crashed at take-off. Sgt.s V.J. Hale (RAF), E.J. Beard (RAF), FS. H. Higginson (RAF), Cpl. G.I. Davies (RAF), and LAC. C. Robson (RAF), were also killed.
