422 Flying Yachtsmen Squadron (This Arm Shall Do It). Sunderland aircraft JM 712 ditched in the North Atlantic after being badly shot up during an attack on an enemy submarine. Flying Officer C.B. Steeves and FS LT Needham (RAF) were killed by the gunfire and Flight Lieutenant Sargent was killed during the crash landing. The escort vessel, H.M.S. Drury, witnessed the attack and picked up the survivors.
