90 Squadron (Celer). Stirling aircraft EF 198 returned from a mine-laying operation and struck the ground on breaking cloud cover at Denham Castle, four miles north-west of Chedburgh, Suffolk, England. FS G.E. Stringer and three of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed. Two others of the crew, not Canadians, were injured.
