76 Squadron RAF (Resolute) RAF Middleton St George, Halifax BII aircraft W 7661 was in a mid-air collision with Oxford aircraft V 4140 of 1516 Beam Approach Training Flight at 2,000 feet, just below the cloud base

Both the Halifax, carrying Warrant Officer Roberts and five RAF airmen, and the Oxford carrying two RAF airmen, crashed and burned at Middleton St George, England killing all on board

Warrant Officer Class 2 MH Roberts (RCAF), FS JHG Bingham (RAFVR), Sergeant RH Bircher (RAFVR), Sergeant JBF Fanning (RAFVR), Sergeant MC Glover (RAF) and Sergeant RG Warkcup (RAFVR) were all killed on Halifax W 7661

Sergeant FR Magson (RAFVR) and Sergeant JCW Sealey (RAFVR) were killed on Oxford V 4140
