49 Squadron (Cave Canem). Lancaster aircraft JB 421 lost over enemy territory during operations against Salbris, France. Five RAF members of the crew, Sergeants R.L. Fowls, B. McLeod, E.W. Rushton, Warrant Officer R.W. Long, FS F.J. Pinch, and Pilot Officer K.R. Warren (RAAF) were also killed. Addendum: P/O. K.R. Warren (RAAF) was not a member of this crew but P/O. A.L. Anderson (RAF) was and was also killed. Memorial at Old Abitibi Pioneer Cemetery, Iroquois Falls, Cochrane District, Ontario, Canada
