It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. Pilot - W/O Bob Boorman RCAF Navigator F/S Bill Bryant RAF Flying through the Eiffel Tower."

83 Squadron (Strike To Defend), Pathfinder Force. Lancaster aircraft ND 448 missing during a night trip to Leipzig, Germany. Six of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Addendum: . Lancaster aircraft ND 448 (OL-S) crashed near Beizig, Germany during night operations to Leipzig, Germany. FS. F. Daley (RAAF), F/O. T.B. Field (RAF), Sgt.s C. Howes (RAF), G. Wheeler (RAF), RA. Rudge (RAF), and G.J. Paterson (RAF) were also killed.
