106 Squadron (Pro Libertate). Target - Cahagnes, Normandy. The pilot Lancaster aircraft PB 304 was landing in bad visibility when he fouled the port wing tip on a river bank and the aircraft exploded on impact. Six members of the crew and one civilian, all not Canadians, were also killed; seventy houses and two work buildings were damaged at the crash site at Pendelton, Lancashire.
