Believed to have been shot down in air combat .Reported that he was buried near Roulers, but the grave is missing. *L.S.* 1918-08-21: Raney was last seen on an offensive patrol North-west of Roulers, diving on an enemy aircraft. He died in the encounter. His body was not recovered.
