W/C FS Powley DFC AFC (RAFVR) had completed over thirty operations in Lancaster aircraft with 166 Squadron and had begun his second tour when his Lancaster BI aircraft RA 544 failed to return from operations. Six of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
