It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. 171 Squadron. Halifax aircraft NA 687 crashed four miles east of Rochefort, Belgium during a special night operation over the Ruhr area of Germany. Seven RAF members of the crew, WOs A.G. Cheese, F.E.T. Davy, Flight Lieutenant G. Cox, FSs S.D.C. Farlie, A.E. Meekings, Sergeant S.R. Fenwick, and Flying Officer R. Maden were also killed. There were two wireless operators on board for this operation.
