171 Squadron. Halifax aircraft NA 687 crashed four miles east of Rochefort, Belgium during a special night operation over the Ruhr area of Germany. Seven RAF members of the crew, WOs A.G. Cheese, F.E.T. Davy, Flight Lieutenant G. Cox, FSs S.D.C. Farlie, A.E. Meekings, Sergeant S.R. Fenwick, and Flying Officer R. Maden were also killed. There were two wireless operators on board for this operation.
