578 Squadron (Accuracy). Halifax aircraft MZ 512 was shot up by an enemy night fighter aircraft during a night operation against Berlin, Germany. The Halifax caught fire, then exploded and crashed near Mulhausen, Germany. Two members of the crew, not Canadians, were blown clear of the aircraft when it exploded and were taken Prisoners of War. Four members of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
