57 Squadron (Corpus Non Animum Muto). BROTHER to John Aird McPhee. Lancaster aircraft W 4359 caught fire in the air and a fuel tank exploded. The aircraft crashed five miles north-east of Predannack, Cornwall. Sergeants T.I. Manson (RNZAF), H.M. Sims (RAAF), R.S. Doom (RAF), J.O. Irving (RAF), W.H. Taylor (RAF), and Flying Officer F.G. Shell (RAF) were also killed.
