It is signed by the late Bill Bryant RAF who was the navigator of that aircraft piloted by Bob Boorman RCAF. The caption reads "This Stars Stripes photograph was taken on 14 September 1944 and shows a Mosquito Mk XIII of 409 Squadron RCAF. 46 Squadron (We Rise To Conquer). The crew of Stirling aircraft PJ 911 were on a training flight from Castel Benito, North Africa to their base in the United Kingdom when they struck a mountain thirty-seven miles south-west of Perpignan, France. Flight Lieutenant G. Couldrey (RAF), FSs J.M. Coad (RAF), F.R. Jones (RAF), A.M. Ross (RAF), Flight Lieutenant C. Cooper D.F,M. (RAF), F/Os I.R. Cowan D.F.C. (RAAF), and F.W. Douglas (RAAF) were also killed.
