1667 Heavy Conversion Unit. The crew of Halifax aircraft EB 146 were on a practice bombing exercise when the port outer engine failed and set up a severe vibration. Flying Officer McIvor ordered the crew to abandon the aircraft and attempted a landing. The Halifax went out of control and crashed at Marshfield, ten miles south of Gloucester. Two of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed.
