77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). Whitley V aircraft (Z 9150) failed to return from bombing operations. Sgt(s) J.C. Hiltz, A.H.K. Pedley (RAF), and Pilot Officer E.G. Smith (RAF) were also killed.
Addendum: The squadron was based at Leeming when Whitley aircraft Z 9150 was lost during operations against Stettin. Sgt. R.W. Dunkley (RAF) was the other member of the crew killed. Smith and Dunkley are buried in a common grave at Kiel. Detail from "Some of the Many" by Roy Walker, Kent, England.
