626 Squadron (To Strike And Not To Yield). Lancaster aircraft ME 589 failed to return from a night trip to Leipzig, Germany. Six of the crew, not Canadians, missing presumed killed. Addendum: It is believed to have crashed in the sea off the Frisian Islands. Six RAF members of the crew, Sgt.s H. Dunn, H. Cook, A.W. Mitton, M. Latham, G.H. Bodycot and T.J. Pullman were also killed.
