296 Squadron. Whitley aircraft BD 536 stalled and crashed during the landing approach at Leuchars. FS J.H. Kelly, AC2 R.F. Fisher (RAF), AC2 R.F.G. Padfield (RAF), and three other RAF members of the crew were also killed.
Addendum: AC.2 D.F. Armstrong (RAF), AC.2 W. Inglis (RAF), and P/O, J. Woods (RAF) were also killed.
