218 Gold Coast Squadron (In Time). The crew of Stirling I aircraft N 3718 HA-C took off on operations and was lost over the sea after sending an SOS. F/S(s) R.F. Noton, R.J. Anderson, and three RAF crew members were also killed. Addendum: The RAF crew members also killed were Flight Sergeant R.E. Pithers, Pilot Officer G.G. Jeary, Sgt(s) J. Mainwaring, and W.M. Watson.
