51 Squadron (Swift And Sure). The crew of Whitley aircraft Z 6731 were on ops. when their aircraft caught fire and crashed near Ipswich at Lesfield, Suffolk. Sgt. E.J. Lowater (RAAF) was also killed. addendum 2: See page 264, Sgt.s J.L. Gilman, R.E. Bennett (RAF), E.J. Lowater (RAAF), and J. Taylor (RAF) were also killed. The aircraft crashed near Ipswich not 1pswick. Spelling correction by A.E, Barnard, Burlington, On.
