98 Sqn RAF (Never Failing) Mitchell II aircraft FW 188 VO-B, returning from a bombing attack on the gun positions at Boulogne, France had a hung-up bomb dislodge and explode while landing at RAF Station, Dunsford, Surrey.
Flight Lieutenant RF Logie (RCAF), Flying Officer DL Loveridge (RCAF), Flying Officer RD Durling (RCAF) and Pilot Officer G Churchyard (RCAF) and ground crew fitter, Sergeant AC (Tubby) Jones (RAF) were killed. They are all buried together at Brookwood Military Cemetery.
