214 Federated Malay States Squadron (Ultor In Umbris). Wellington aircraft D 1148 was shot down near St Trond, Belgium during a night bombing sortie over enemy-held territory. P/O. R.B. Halliday, Sgt. B.O. Gates, FS. D.H. Jacques and two RAF members of the crew, Sgt.s S. Cox, and E. Mason were also killed. Flight Sergeant Pilot Lawrence was buried at St Trond, exhumed, and reinterred in the War Cemetery, Heverlee, Brabant, Belgium.
