514 Sqn (Nil Obstare Potest) RAF Waterbeach, Lancaster II aircraft DS 669 JI-C was likely shot down by flak, but could possibly have been involved in a mid-air collision with another 514 Sqn Lancaster II aircraft DS 828 JI-D during night operations against Dusseldorf, Germany.
Pilot Officer RN Kirkpatrick (RCAF), Pilot Officer JD Harrison (RAF), Sergeant AG Buttling (RAFVR), Sergeant RW Norris (RAFVR), FS E Wilde (RAFVR) and Sergeant W Wilson (RAFVR) were killed and all are buried at the Reichswald Forest War Cemetery.
Sergeant FD Nash (RAFVR) was missing, presumed killed and is commemorated on the Runnymede War Memorial.
