Operation Oyster

487 New Zealand Squadron (Ki Te Mutunga). Ventura aircraft AJ 196 was part of "Operation Oyster", a pin-point daylight raid on the Philips electrical works at Eindhoven, Netherlands. Aircraft was hit by flak and crashed over enemy-held territory. Flying Officer J.A. Withers was also killed. Two of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
