7 Squadron (Per Diem Per Noctum), Pathfinder Force. Lancaster III aircraft ND 736 went down twenty-eight miles north-west of Magdeburg at Helmstedt, Germany, during night operations against Boulogne, France. Three of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed, and three of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed.
