1918-07-15: Humphreys was killed in a flying accident in the Bay of Quinte, Lake Ontario near Deseronto, Ontario where he was a flying instructor at Camp Rathburn. He was flying a Jenny from the second seat and was low-stunting near the water surface when the wingtip touched and the plane crashed, inverted. His student Cdt WA Trumble escaped with minor injuries, but Humphreys drowned before he could be rescued.
