356 Squadron (We Bring Freedom And Assistance). The crew of Liberator aircraft KH 316 were bombing Japanese troop concentrations at Alugale, Burma when their aircraft burst into flames. The Liberator then hit a hill and disintegrated west of the village of Laungchaung, Maya Peninsula, Burma. F/Os F.R. Ross, R.G. Fisher, R.M. Clarke, FSs S.J. Veres, P.N. Humeniski, J.C. Hodichak, and two of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed.
