7 Squadron (Per Diem Per Noctum), Pathfinder Force. Stirling aircraft R 9275 lost. Warrant Officer H.E. Nesbitt, P/Os E.A. Allen, R.H. Genesis D.F.M. (RAF), T.J. Ryder (RAF), F.A. Terry (RAF), and FS F.N. Barley (RAF) were also killed. Flying Officer Freberg had been shot down on September 8, 1942, escaped, and arrived in Gibraltar by October 21, 1942. It was very unusual to be allowed back on operations after having escaped capture.
