158 Squadron (Strength In Unity). Target - Leipzig, Germany. Halifax aircraft HX 351 crashed on take-off three miles north-east of Catfoss, East Yorkshire. Six of the crew, not Canadians, were also killed.
Addendum: The aircraft crashed and burned shortly after take off. Believed to have been caused by an electrical fault with the elevators. The names of the others killed are Pilot Officer P.M. Jennings, N. Gaffery, G.F. Gillings, H.E. Jones, S.P. Morris, and C.J. Seymour all RAF. Detail provided by David E.Thompson, Middlesborough, England.
