7 Squadron (Per Diem Per Noctum), Pathfinder Force. Lancaster aircraft ND 443 was shot down by a German night fighter aircraft during a night trip to Nuremberg, Germany. Sergeants K.G. Francis (RAF), F.T. Fuller (RAF), W. Jenkins (RAF), T.B. Liddle (RAF), J. Stevens (RAF), and Squadron Leader C.H. Wilson D.F.C. (RAF) were also killed. This was Flying Officer Ferrier's fourth operation and his was one of 108 Allied aircraft lost this night.
