171 Squadron (Per dolum defendimus) RAF North Creake, Halifax III aircraft LK 874 6Y-C, on a Bomber Support operation against Prague, Czechoslovakia. The Halifax mid-air collided with 156 Sqn Lancaster PB 403 ZN-K and crashed near near Morlenbach-Godesbachtal, Germany. Both aircraft and crews were lost. Pilot Officer RA Brown (RCAF), Flight Lieutenant PS Jennings (RNZAF), FS GV Knowler (RAFVR), FS CT Jones (RAFVR), Sergeant A Storey (RAFVR), Flying Officer EG Draper (special equipment operator)(RAF), FS F Dyson (RAFVR) and Sergeant R Sperling (RAFVR) were killed.
