242 Squadron (Toujours Pret). Flying Officer Brown was killed while on a local flight when his Hurricane aircraft N 2476 crashed at Grange Farm, Alderton, England. On May 5, 1940 he was sent to France attached to 85 Squadron, two days later he was shot down and suffered a bullet wound to his right leg. He was evacuated to England and later joined 242 Squadron.
