138 (Special Duties)Squadron RAF (For Freedom) RAF Tempsford, Halifax aircraft JD 156 shot down by night fighter pilot Oberleutnant Johannes Hiendlmayr of the 11/NJG 3, flying a Ju 88 C-6 or R-1 from Grove airfield. Halifax JD 156 was on a special duties SOE Operation FLAT 5 dropping supplies and agents to the Polish resistance. The aircraft crashed in the Kattegat, off Norsminde, Denmark. Flying Officer JR Bradley (RCAF) and Sergeant H Johnston (RAFVR) , FS GE Snook (RAAF) were killed. FS LA Trotter (RAAF), FS DR Quinlivan (RAAF), Sergeant S Francis (RAF) and FS GT Jones (RAF) were all taken Prisoner of War.
