626 Squadron (To Strike And Not To Yield) RAF Wickenby, Lancaster LM 689 aircraft on return flight from a GARDENING operation was attacked by a night fighter. The first attack was beaten off but on a second attack rear gunner FS EW Bock (RCAF) was killed instantly by cannon fire. The aircraft managed to return to base successfully, with FS Bock the only casualty.
