110 (AC) Hyderabad Squadron (Nes Timeo Nee Sperno) Lysander III aircraft R 9004 crashed on a night take-off near Odiham, Hampshire, England. Flight Lieutenant A.H.F. Alloway (RCAF) and aero engine mechanic Sergeant G. Wright (RCAF) were killed (W.F. McCague). Flight Lieutenant Alloway's mother was a reporter for the Winnipeg Tribune and the paper's owner J.W. McConnell later paid for a Presentation aircraft, Spitfire Vb W3441 "Alloway" in his honour, one of several aircraft he sponsored (R.W.R. Walker at www.rafcommands.com).
