224 Squadron (Fedele All Amico). Liberator aircraft BZ 942 failed to return from a night anti-sub patrol. Pilot Officer M.E. Hayward was also killed and nine of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Flying Officer Allen and his crew sank one U-boat on July 3, 1943 and sank another U-boat on July 28, 1943.
