1918-03-24: Johnstone was missing in DH-4, B-2108;seen to go down with an enemy aircraft on his tail on this side of the lines on return from a bombing mission to Landrecies. His air-gunner, 2Lt Lord C Douglas (not listed in the record) was also missing. They were found to be wounded, Johnstone in the foot and Douglas in the leg. Both recovered.
