1916-06-03: to be 2nd-Lieutenant. 1916-09-24: posted to 18Sqn RFC. 1916-10-22: Cross was OK in FE2b, 7671; when he collided with another FE while landing from a photo escort. His air-gunner, Corporal William Adam Golding was also OK. 1916-12-28: posted to 11Sqn, RFC. 1917-03-17: Cross was missing in FE2b, 7695; from a recce patrol. His air-gunner Lt GF Lodge (no forenames in the record) was also missing. Both were later reported to be POWs, Cross was repatriated 1918-12-22.
