1917-08-10: accepted as observer, later trained as pilot. 1918-04-25: to E.F. with 148Sqn, by air. 1918-07-04: Denman was injured in FE2b, A-6411; when the engine seized and the machine crash-landed and over-turned during a bombing raid. His air-gunner, 2Lt Thomas Henry Robinson Riggs, (British) was also injured. Both men recovered.
