1918-08-13: Johnson died in DH-9, D-5590. He was missing on a bombing raid to the German cities along the Rhine River. His air-gunner, 2Lt Albert Burnett Sangster (British) was also missing, presumed dead.
He was part of the Independent Air Force, the bombing group charged with the bombing of German cities.
