1918-07-18: Griffith was injured in SE5a, D-3503; in a forced landing in a cornfield near Fortel, after the main petrol tank was hit by anti-aircraft fire, while he was on an offensive patrol. Griffith survived to score 7 aerial victories.He also survived the Archangel Expedition to Russia in 1919 & 1920.He joined the USAF in WWII and served until 1956.
