White, and his pilot Lt Sydney White (British) were both wounded and made PoW when their FE2d, A-34, went down out of control then flattened out and crash-landed on a recce of Menin. They recovered from their wounds and were repatriated 1918-11-28. White was seriously debilitated from his time as a POW, and never recovered his health post-war, dying in 1928
