Court Treatt enlisted in the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment at the outbreak of war and fought in France with them before transferring to the RFC in 1915. He was injured in a flying accident in 1916 before being promoted to a staff position. Post war he was an eminent explorer of Africa, masterminding the first Cape Town S.A. to Cairo, Egypt transition of the continent in two Crossley cars. He was a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Soceity.
