Jarvis joined the RFC on 1917-08-06. Posted to 17 Sqn in Macedonia in early 1918, he initially flew one of the rare Bristol M.1C monoplanes. Flying the Bristol, the Sopwith Camel and the SE 5a, he scored seven victories while serving with 17 Sqn (later 150 Squadron) during 1918.
