Burden transferred to the Royal Flying Corps in April 1917. Flying the SE5a with 56 Squadron in France, he shot down five Fokker D.VIIs on 1918-08-10. Two days later he shot down three more, for a total of sixteen. Burden was William Bishop's brother-in-law. Later became an architect and died in hospital after an illness of several months in 1960.
