Escort to 24 Mitchells and Baltimores of 232 Wing as close cover. We carried six bombs of 500lb., remaining six aircraft as fighters. The formation was attacked over the target by about 16 enemy fighters, Mc202s and Me109s mixed. Four of our pilots fired bursts at the enemy without results. Moderate heavy AA was experienced over Fuka and some at the front line on the way home. F/Sgt Roberts is mission from this operation. He was not seen after the bombing.
