20 OTU Wellington I R 1155 missing on training flight. Flight Lieutenant J.F. Richie (RAF) (Can), P/O(s) F.S.H. Ford (RAF), E.W. Mcleod (RAAF), Sgt(s) W.A. Crosswell (RAF), H.S. Murray (RAF), H.C. Salt (RAF), A.J. Turner (RAF), G. Whitaker (RAF) and W.P. Wilkinson (RAF) were killed. Flight Lieutenant Ritchie is buried at Edzell Churchyard, Augusshire, England but the other crew members killed have no known graves. Their names are inscribed on the Runnymead War Memorial.
