Flight Lieutenant Wood was flying Typhoon aircraft MN 126 and was engaged in attacking enemy transport south of Orbec, France when he crashed seven miles north-east of Gace, France. Flight Lieutenant Pilot Wood was buried at St Ouen Le Houx, Calvados, France, exhumed, and reburied in the Canadian War Cemetery at Bretteville-sur-Laize, Calvados, France.
