70 Squadron (Usquam). FS Wagner was wounded and died when his Wellington aircraft was hit by enemy cannon and machine gun fire. The aircraft returned to base but had to make a crash landing due to hydraulic failure. Although some of the crew were injured FS Wagner was the only casualty.
