77 Squadron (Esse Potius Quam Videri). Whitley V aircraft Z 9289 was armed with 1 x 1,000 lb., 3 x 500 lb., and 4 x 250 lb. general purpose bombs when it went down in enemy territory, presumed enemy action. Sergeant R.W. Weymouth (RAF) was also killed. Four of the crew, not Canadians, missing believed killed. Addendum: - The squadron was based at Lemming when Whitley aircraft Z 9299 went missing on a raid against Emsden. Sgt. PM. Hewitt (RAF) and FS. J.W. Woodroffe (RAF) were also killed. Sgt. D.B.
